Broadway is CLOSED: At Least for a While

Broadway to Remain Closed for the Rest of the Year

That's right folks. No more Phantom of the Opera or Les Miserables. At least, not for a while. Today, The Broadway League gave this announcement:

"Every single member of our community is eager to get back to work sharing stories that inspire our audience through the transformative power of a shared live experience. The safety of our cast, crew, orchestra and audience is our highest priority and we look forward to returning to our stages only when it’s safe to do so. One thing is for sure, when we return we will be stronger and more needed than ever," said Thomas Schumacher, chair of the board of The Broadway League.

Ladies and gentleman, this could be a problem for Broadway. We have already seen one very successful and well-known musical bite the dust. That musical happened to be the beloved "Frozen." This is a sign to me that even majorly successful companies {(including Walt Disney) are struggling, and if you take away one more form of revenue, it hurts.

Businesses that are faltering due to COVID-19 include JCPenney, Chuck E. Cheese, Cirque du Soleil, and apparently, Broadway.

Hang on to hope Broadway; when we can, we'll do our best to save you.
